Extended Stays

So, last Friday was my final day at Equifax.  I’ll still be back and forth to Atlanta for a bit until I move my stuff in storage and won’t entirely cut ties until I manage to sell my house, but soon, I’ll get to move onto another chapter of my life.  A little travel and then we’ll see what’s next. But there will surely be some interim stops here at home while I await the sale of the house and possibly longer if I decide to go back to school.  … Continue reading

Doing It The Hard Way

This past Saturday was the first time in ages that I’ve gotten out with my camera.  It really has been that long.  I came back from Egypt and less than a month later made a quick weekend dash to Boston as part of a business trip. I came back and edited photos until April.  Can I say again that Egypt was SO WORTH IT.  A trip of a lifetime.  An incredible place and people.  And yes, I said it again without permission.  So sorry! I digress (as usual, you know … Continue reading

Coming Together

The past few weeks have been busy as usual. Work has been demanding of late, and I’ve been trying to get ready for a photo show that was on Friday. It was one of those things I kept meaning to put out there for everyone and never got around to it except for a bulletin on myspace at the last minute. The show was great. We had a huge crowd of people through the gallery and the organizers did a great job of putting it together. I had 4 framed … Continue reading

I Was Really There

Car back! Still without a decent computer, but at least I can cart my butt around again. Baby steps, people, baby steps… Without my laptop, I haven’t really looked at these in detail, but just skimming them gave me the sensation I was about to hop back on that bus in the morning. Getting ahead of myself… reminiscing – you do that in old age I hear… Anyway, Alison, a new friend from the Scotland backpacker tour, posted her photos from the trip. Check ‘em out, see that I was … Continue reading

Paint & Hobo Dreams

I did manage to get some trim painting done. Of course, half-way through, the phone rings. I reach for the upstairs cordless (yes, I’m so anal the little electronic message on it says “upstairs”) only to discover that it says “place on cradle. Oops, the extension cradle is normally in the hall and has been unplugged for a week… great… Run downstairs and catch it going to voicemail and intercept it. Mom calling to catch up and tell me about one of my cats adventures this morning. She began the … Continue reading

Let’s Take this thing Off Road!

Over the weekend, I had a little, mind you only a little, time to read. Instead of the piles of comics, I decided to pick up a graphic novel from Oni Press that I bought based on a blurb in previews. As it turns out, it was well worth it. Off Road is cleverly written and well-drawn By the end when I saw a real photo of the inspirations for the story, the author and two of his friends, I felt like I was looking at a photo of old … Continue reading

Starman: Sons of the Father

Tonight, I finished the final entry in the Starman series of trade paperbacks. I’m at a loss. I’d been anxiously awaiting the last trade to show up at the shop. It did last week. I had dinner with a friend, so I didn’t make it by tonight to see this week’s haul. It’s a good thing, because I might not have finished the trade. It’s a bitter-sweet ending, both to the story and to my reading adventure of it. I’d been anxiously awaiting the conclusion of a story I didn’t … Continue reading

It’s been a long year of travel mixed with some consternation. I have left the borders of my own country twice already in 2004. I had always dreamed of travel but it somehow always seemed out of reach. I’m not sure if I placed it out of reach or if it truly was. After my return from my initial short stay in London, I lived in a state of gloom for weeks. I had found my life here lacking in comparision to the riches of the world that lay beyond. … Continue reading
