Borja, Spain – Damaged Fresco Meme

It’s unusual for me to find myself on the outside looking in when there’s a good joke afoot. I don’t think many people who know me well would suggest I had lost my funny bone. Yet there’s one meme that went viral this week that leaves me completely unimpressed. If you’ve somehow missed this viral piece, an elderly woman in Spain attempted to restore a hundred year old church fresco and failed rather spectacularly. Here we see the fresco as it was, both in the past and more recently, and … Continue reading

Pinterest – Making Lemonade

Sometime around the fall last year, I started hearing waves about Pinterest. I had friends encouraging me to join and share some of my photography and just in general telling me how much they personally enjoyed the site. As someone active on social media, I hate to say that hearing a new site is up and coming is not music to my ears. Instead the general reaction I hear from many friends and utter myself is “oh no, not another one!” The first few times, I was too busy to … Continue reading

Extended Stays

So, last Friday was my final day at Equifax.  I’ll still be back and forth to Atlanta for a bit until I move my stuff in storage and won’t entirely cut ties until I manage to sell my house, but soon, I’ll get to move onto another chapter of my life.  A little travel and then we’ll see what’s next. But there will surely be some interim stops here at home while I await the sale of the house and possibly longer if I decide to go back to school.  … Continue reading

Life is a State of Mind

I guess you could say a fair bit has been going on in my life this year.  After a decade working with the same company, I’ve decided to cut ties and try something new.  When I figure out what that is, I’ll let you know!  It’s a long involved story for one on one time if you care, but this was the right thing for me to do right now and although it’s a little scary in this economy, I don’t remember being happier in quite some time.  My intentions … Continue reading

Adobe’s Customer Service Grade

A few weeks ago, I got a macbook pro, as previously mentioned, and partially left the world of windows (my media center PC is still a PC).  I found out (before I made the switch) that Adobe will allow you to swamp from windows or mac when you chance PCs if you already own their software (considering the price of photoshop, this was a big factor). So, sure enough, I contacted them and spent about half an hour on the phone taking care of the swap.  I had to fax … Continue reading

Doing It The Hard Way

This past Saturday was the first time in ages that I’ve gotten out with my camera.  It really has been that long.  I came back from Egypt and less than a month later made a quick weekend dash to Boston as part of a business trip. I came back and edited photos until April.  Can I say again that Egypt was SO WORTH IT.  A trip of a lifetime.  An incredible place and people.  And yes, I said it again without permission.  So sorry! I digress (as usual, you know … Continue reading

New Posts Coming

Okay, I’ve had news of one type or another (nothing overwhelmingly earth shattering or anything), but have just been a complete slacker lately.  I could write one overwhelmingly long post and bore everyone to death, or attempt to break it into smaller more digestible chunks.  I’m going for the chunks route.  At least then news someone might find interesting isn’t buried.

Long Awaited Updates – From DIY to Entertainment

Okay, I can only guess at how long they’ve been awaited, but I have been very MIA of late.  Nothing super exciting, but I suppose I should do a bit of updating here. The biggest thing of late has been re-doing my kitchen.  I moved in to my current abode nearly 8 years ago.  The kitchen at that time was little changed from 1988, when it was built.  All the same appliances, but the burgundy paint was probably not so original.  That was the only thing I changed then.  Repainted … Continue reading

Living With The Darkness

I think I may well have been one of the few who took note of Earth Hour in one of Georgia’s newest “cities” – Johns Creek. On one of my typically many tangents, I find it hard to accept this as anything more than a tax district.  There’s no city center and no real history. The history that was here was tiny little places like Ocee and Warsaw, unincorporated communities that were wiped from the map by suburbia.   Despite there being historic but already lost communities with names here, it … Continue reading

INXS – More Of The Rose Colored Glasses

I’ve documented elsewhere that I recently went all digital. All my music is now in the form of ephemeral bits and bytes on my hard drive (and backed up elsewhere). And my three shelves of CDs have been compressed down to a couple of binders. Although a freeing experience, I’m still dealing with the effects to some degree. I ended up choosing J River’s Media Center to handle my virtual library of music, and have been steadily working my way through the catalog to rate all these years of music … Continue reading
