Doing It The Hard Way

This past Saturday was the first time in ages that I’ve gotten out with my camera.  It really has been that long.  I came back from Egypt and less than a month later made a quick weekend dash to Boston as part of a business trip. I came back and edited photos until April.  Can I say again that Egypt was SO WORTH IT.  A trip of a lifetime.  An incredible place and people.  And yes, I said it again without permission.  So sorry! I digress (as usual, you know … Continue reading

Long Awaited Updates – From DIY to Entertainment

Okay, I can only guess at how long they’ve been awaited, but I have been very MIA of late.  Nothing super exciting, but I suppose I should do a bit of updating here. The biggest thing of late has been re-doing my kitchen.  I moved in to my current abode nearly 8 years ago.  The kitchen at that time was little changed from 1988, when it was built.  All the same appliances, but the burgundy paint was probably not so original.  That was the only thing I changed then.  Repainted … Continue reading

Coming Together

The past few weeks have been busy as usual. Work has been demanding of late, and I’ve been trying to get ready for a photo show that was on Friday. It was one of those things I kept meaning to put out there for everyone and never got around to it except for a bulletin on myspace at the last minute. The show was great. We had a huge crowd of people through the gallery and the organizers did a great job of putting it together. I had 4 framed … Continue reading

INXS – More Of The Rose Colored Glasses

I’ve documented elsewhere that I recently went all digital. All my music is now in the form of ephemeral bits and bytes on my hard drive (and backed up elsewhere). And my three shelves of CDs have been compressed down to a couple of binders. Although a freeing experience, I’m still dealing with the effects to some degree. I ended up choosing J River’s Media Center to handle my virtual library of music, and have been steadily working my way through the catalog to rate all these years of music … Continue reading

North Georgia Amble

I had grand plans today to get an early start and ride up to the mountains and catch the sunrise on what I hoped would be some good fall color. What actually happened was waking up to see the sun already having risen. Hmm… change of plans… I had a leisurely morning and headed up. I’d heard about a scenic trail around Johns Mountain and the “Pocket” up I-75 towards Chattanooga. I figured I’d have a day in the”mountains” such as we call them down here and I’d be there … Continue reading

The Past Is Always Gold

I’m not sure what today got me into this journey down memory lane. But it began with hunting down this old commercial… And the memories came rushing back.. I moved from commercial to commercial and the odd cartoon of those days such as But in the end I came to a skittering halt here… The first thought out of my head was maudlin… It worries me that people so often believe their childhoods, their past, was the best, that the future is darker… Does anyone talk to their elders and … Continue reading

This is Mark’s Insanity Part II

So, after days of thinking about it I put down my $99 and registered for a SMART. I loved them in Europe and they are coming to America in ’08! So much for that happy place of no car payments. The one above is the configuration I want, color-wise, and yes, the cabriolet model – after year’s of swearing against a convertible

Something of an Update

It was pointed out recently that it’s been awhile since I’ve posted much outside of my photos. There’s a plethora of reasons for that, but by and large boring. When I’ve had spare time lately, my life has been either taking pictures or editing them. I don’t know that I’ve ever had a hobby suck me in so completely. And as I did report on here,

Life is But a Dream

First, one I’ve meant to share for a week: HUGE KIDS SALE I’ve passed that sign at a church on the way to work about this time of the year every year since I bought my house. And every year, I want to know are they selling a lot of kids or just really large ones? And aren’t there laws against that sort of thing? Meanwhile, I’ve opened up the week on a strong note. I was going to be at work late anyway trying to complete (and failing) research … Continue reading

As Sure As the Seasons Come and Go

Spent the day doing a little reading and in between prepping my hallway for a repainting. Whee? I also watched a few more eps from my Smallville Season One box set. There are episodes from this season I never watched because during the original run I had no interest. It was only thanks to the WB showing it on Sunday afternoons that I got hooked enough to follow the series into season two. I digress… So, last load of laundry running and I find myself at the computer after finishing … Continue reading
