The Automatic LIVE

Exausted but well pleased! Deramtologist visit this afternoon in Buckhead area and then loitering about as long as I could before wandering down to Vinyl to catch The Automatic in their last US show before going back to the UK to continue touring. The opening act, Modern Society, was pretty good.  I think more of the audience knew their stuff than me, local act.  I’ll check out their stuff some more once I’m awake.  I was cash-less or I would have probably just taken the plunge on the CD – … Continue reading

Off To A Bang

Okay, to put things in perspective, it’s not the end of the world, not remotely, but I’m hoping that beginning the year with a weather-canceled street party is not indicative of where 2007 is going. Summing up my return to the U.S. of A. Nearly missed a tight connecting flight from Newark to Atlanta.  Barely got to the gate on time. Flight delayed and ultimately canceled due to mechanical issues. Arrived in Atlanta 6 hours late with luggage that had ultimately beat me back here but was mislaid by baggage … Continue reading

Something of an Update

It was pointed out recently that it’s been awhile since I’ve posted much outside of my photos. There’s a plethora of reasons for that, but by and large boring. When I’ve had spare time lately, my life has been either taking pictures or editing them. I don’t know that I’ve ever had a hobby suck me in so completely. And as I did report on here,

Wow, I don’t feel so well. Sore throat, slight cough. Woke up at like 4:30am and couldn’t get back to sleep… I felt like I had enough, but I knew it wasn’t true. I felt practically asleep all after noon – i.e. trouble focusing on anything. At least I went to work early (since I was up), so I was out earlier… Then ran by Staples to get a new shredder. Mine died Sunday. I’m on one of my clean the house sprees. I’ve put a few things on e-bay … Continue reading

Think I’m ready… I’m done packing. I’m done wrapping Christmas gifts. I think the house is ready for its near abandonment. And yet, that typical feeling of I must be forgetting something is washing over me by the minute. Am I really ready? After all, I am the person who has gotten a half hour from the house and turned around to come back because I couldn’t remember shutting an upstairs window. While this isn’t a constant phenomenon, it does happen often enough that I try to form clear memories … Continue reading

Christmas is nearly here and I’m almost too caught up in preparing for my trip to notice. Today, I met up with April for our annual Christmas meal and gift-exchange. I’d suggested using the gift certificate I won at the office Christmas party for Ray’s Killer Creek today. Wasn’t aware that they have a Breakfast brunch on Sundays. It was actually quite enjoyable, though. We ate a little after lunch, but anyone who knows me is aware that I’m more likely to eat food that is traditionally served at Breakfast … Continue reading

Family Time Spent the evening over in Lilburn with Brian (my cousin) and Kelly (his GF). This was our nearly annual Christmas get together. This year I brought along National Lampoons’ Christmas Vacation. For me, this is tradition. I don’t know when I began watching this each and every year, but eventually I had to own it on DVD just to insure that a year does not go by that I miss it. This year, Brian & Kelly joined this tradition. Neither had seen the movie in years, which is … Continue reading

Another weekend is here and I’m being so lazy. I woke up at 8:30am and all I’ve done is read the paper and a little hand pruning of my garden. I need to finish cleaning the house. I’m in the midst of refinancing my house (of course after all the best deals have passed by). The appraiser is coming tomorrow. He wanted to come Friday, but I was honestly busy and the house wasn’t entirely presentable. So, I asked him for today. Came home with plans to clean and did … Continue reading

Spent the weekend with the folks for Mother’s day and so that I could retrieve my cats. Took Friday off, so had a three day weekend with them. Worked on painting the trim on the back of the house. It’s looking good for a house in the realm of 100 years. By the end of the summer, we should finally be done with this project. Meanwhile, my own home is in need of trim painting. I got a letter from the Home Owner’s Association alerting me to this last week. … Continue reading
