I Can Laugh Now

Picture this, I had to go to Chicago on a business trip this past week.  There wasn’t a lot of advance notice, but it was not the first time, so I sailed through the trip arrangements and off I went. Arrived Monday afternoon for an all day meeting Tuesday.  Tuesday flew by, quite busy, and I hopped back in the rental car and drove to O’hare.   Checked in the car and got to the terminal, rushed to the Delta Kiosk, and swiped my credit card.  I half paid attention when … Continue reading

Doing It The Hard Way

This past Saturday was the first time in ages that I’ve gotten out with my camera.  It really has been that long.  I came back from Egypt and less than a month later made a quick weekend dash to Boston as part of a business trip. I came back and edited photos until April.  Can I say again that Egypt was SO WORTH IT.  A trip of a lifetime.  An incredible place and people.  And yes, I said it again without permission.  So sorry! I digress (as usual, you know … Continue reading

Days of Leisure?

The company I work for occasionally offers discount tickets to the odd event or amusement park. But for the first time in 8 years, they gave their employees and family members the opportunity to visit Atlanta’s High Museum for free! Shockers! The moment I saw that I knew I was going. I haven’t been to the High since I was in High school. And honestly, my memories from that visit are far more centered around seeing the city and time spent with friends. The High has since expanded and taken … Continue reading

Mark’s Rattlesnake Roundup

Today’s title brought to us by the letter R is just my nutso way of saying that there will be a cacophony of topics ahead. A little of everything and little of value to world peace. Does the World Need Superman? Friday night, I met up with some friends, Chris and Dan, to catch Superman Returns. I had hope to see it Wednesday night after work, but work would have no part of that idea. I worked late every day. So, Friday, I scooted home and then off to meet … Continue reading

Life’s Firsts & Miscellany

Ah, behind on the updates to my life again. I spent the past weekend at home. It was a nice break from the fast pitch that work has become. I didn’t see a lot of my Dad (it was Father’s Day) because he had to work (things where he works have been “interesting” of late, too). And I had to take Leo, my new kitten, to the Vet on Saturday. I had hoped to get his shots soon and talked to the Vet about it, but he has a cold, … Continue reading

Crazy Dreams & RIP

Had some anxiety surface in a dream last night. Not really sure of the source of it at the moment. But in retrospect, the dream was rather funny. I, apparently, was traveling and arrived at the airport with only my backpack, which contained no clothing. I checked the pack in and then when it was time to board the plane realized that I had nothing to read, nothing to listen to – everything was in the one bag I checked. This was when I realized that I had brought NOTHING … Continue reading

All the News that’s Fit to Print

Not much new in the last couple of days. Slowly getting my bedroom put back right. I started painting it two weekends ago. Instead of just doing a plain old paint job, I decided to do something “fun” since it’s taken me four years to finally paint the room where I lay my head each night. It’s got an old world yellowed look going for it. I’ll take pictures when it’s actually completely straight. It’s funny how one thing leads to another leads to another leads…. well, you get it… … Continue reading

Okay, this was a craptastic weekend. About mid-way through last week, I felt like my cold was improving. In fact, by Friday, all the sore throat was gone as well as most of the stuffiness, but I had a THROBBING sinus headache all day. It felt like baby elephants were trying to erupt from my cheeckbones. I resolved if it didn’t improve by Monday, I’d call the doctor. Saturday, it was MUCH worse. I have a feeling I understand why they use to think people were possessed by demons. I … Continue reading

This is from the “Yes, I am insane – thanks for asking” department: Sitting at work during lunch today I was checking out airfare to various places. There was an awesome fare to Australia listed at Clark Howard’s site – with tax $1,070 – which I’ve never seen from Atlanta. I’ve seen under $1k only from LA. If I hadn’t just put in the new transmission, I would have been sorely tempted. So, first time since November of 2003 that I haven’t had plans to go somewhere sometime. Nothing, nada, … Continue reading
