A Vampire Weekend Out of Season

I spent the day doing some website maintenance. Funny, I thought I was going to do some house cleaning. Coincidence or procrastination? Hmmm…. Anyway, while I was chained to the laptop, I finally caught up to the latest podcast at Have You Heard – a fairly new but swift growing local podcast. The folks doing it are local, the music calendar is local, but the music, is diverse in location and taste. There have been several bands added to my myspace friends list to keep up with, but today I … Continue reading

Soundtrack To Life

So, I’m in another one of my now infamous purge modes. For the uninitiated, I have a tendency to be somewhat of a pack rat, but off and on through my life, as far back as I can remember, I will occasionally just go down the path of tossing junk out, and that’s what it is. For some of us, we pick up items from our past, and the memories associated come flowing back and we attach that memory to the object, as if the memory will never come back … Continue reading

Days of Leisure?

The company I work for occasionally offers discount tickets to the odd event or amusement park. But for the first time in 8 years, they gave their employees and family members the opportunity to visit Atlanta’s High Museum for free! Shockers! The moment I saw that I knew I was going. I haven’t been to the High since I was in High school. And honestly, my memories from that visit are far more centered around seeing the city and time spent with friends. The High has since expanded and taken … Continue reading

Off To A Bang

Okay, to put things in perspective, it’s not the end of the world, not remotely, but I’m hoping that beginning the year with a weather-canceled street party is not indicative of where 2007 is going. Summing up my return to the U.S. of A. Nearly missed a tight connecting flight from Newark to Atlanta.  Barely got to the gate on time. Flight delayed and ultimately canceled due to mechanical issues. Arrived in Atlanta 6 hours late with luggage that had ultimately beat me back here but was mislaid by baggage … Continue reading

Something of an Update

It was pointed out recently that it’s been awhile since I’ve posted much outside of my photos. There’s a plethora of reasons for that, but by and large boring. When I’ve had spare time lately, my life has been either taking pictures or editing them. I don’t know that I’ve ever had a hobby suck me in so completely. And as I did report on here,

Mark’s Rattlesnake Roundup

Today’s title brought to us by the letter R is just my nutso way of saying that there will be a cacophony of topics ahead. A little of everything and little of value to world peace. Does the World Need Superman? Friday night, I met up with some friends, Chris and Dan, to catch Superman Returns. I had hope to see it Wednesday night after work, but work would have no part of that idea. I worked late every day. So, Friday, I scooted home and then off to meet … Continue reading

Life is But a Dream

First, one I’ve meant to share for a week: HUGE KIDS SALE I’ve passed that sign at a church on the way to work about this time of the year every year since I bought my house. And every year, I want to know are they selling a lot of kids or just really large ones? And aren’t there laws against that sort of thing? Meanwhile, I’ve opened up the week on a strong note. I was going to be at work late anyway trying to complete (and failing) research … Continue reading

Aimless Chatter

So, the painting of my hall and stairwell continues. I’m going from a mossy green to a stark white, so this is not exactly a one coat thing. I liked the green but just too dark for a windowless area with average height ceilings (that being the hall upstairs). Even incomplete, I am much happier with the open feeling. When I’ll finish is anyone’s guess. So, I may be walking across tarps for awhile yet. Long days at work this week tho better than some. Today, I didn’t have to … Continue reading

Opportunities and Options

Long week. Another dentist appointment on Tuesday so I ended up burning a couple of days of vacation rather than trying to drive home from here Monday night and then back here Tuesday – just not worth it. Wednesday was a big meeting with one of our customers – the who is not important but big and in need of attention. So, that was an entire day. And I had to present to them, which is both a good experience and a potentially bad thing depending on how you do. … Continue reading
