I’ve tried to like Spotify, and I suppose as a service where I can listen to new music – i.e. try before buying, it works but beyond that I don’t understand what the fuss is all about. I find it about as user friendly as a rash. Okay, I can only guess at how long they’ve been awaited, but I have been very MIA of late. Nothing super exciting, but I suppose I should do a bit of updating here. The biggest thing of late has been re-doing my kitchen. I moved in to my current abode nearly 8 years ago. The kitchen at that time was little changed from 1988, when it was built. I’ve documented elsewhere that I recently went all digital. All my music is now in the form of ephemeral bits and bytes on my hard drive (and backed up elsewhere). And my three shelves of CDs have been compressed down to a couple of binders. Although a freeing experience, I’m still dealing with the effects to some degree. First, I have to explain, because many may have no idea that my favorite band is a little band from Tempe, Arizona. Roger Clyne led a band in the mid 90′s under the name, The Refreshments. The last few days in Egypt, I had a cough, which was particularly rough when we got back to the smog of Cairo. Almost two weeks ago, I was having my pre-op for the surgery. The hospital is down the street in Duluth, but the opposite direction I usually go to shop and all.
