Long Awaited Updates – From DIY to Entertainment

Okay, I can only guess at how long they’ve been awaited, but I have been very MIA of late.  Nothing super exciting, but I suppose I should do a bit of updating here. The biggest thing of late has been re-doing my kitchen.  I moved in to my current abode nearly 8 years ago.  The kitchen at that time was little changed from 1988, when it was built.  All the same appliances, but the burgundy paint was probably not so original.  That was the only thing I changed then.  Repainted … Continue reading

The Magic Of Stardust

A few weeks ago, I sat in a theater and watched a trailer for a film called Stardust, and I resolved to see it for a very silly reason. Granted much that is good has stood on nonsensical ground, my grounds were that much of the on location photography was filmed in beautiful Scotland. Much appears to have been, in fact, captured on paths I trod myself, on the beautiful Isle of Skye. And look at that scenery! Is it any question why a fantasy story would be filmed in … Continue reading

The Automatic LIVE

Exausted but well pleased! Deramtologist visit this afternoon in Buckhead area and then loitering about as long as I could before wandering down to Vinyl to catch The Automatic in their last US show before going back to the UK to continue touring. The opening act, Modern Society, was pretty good.  I think more of the audience knew their stuff than me, local act.  I’ll check out their stuff some more once I’m awake.  I was cash-less or I would have probably just taken the plunge on the CD – … Continue reading

Sweet Mystery of life at last I’ve Found You!

Now I think I’m officially back. My laptop was in for service for TWO weeks. Why does warranty work suck so bad? Surely it could be done faster? When I took it in, I was told a week to ten days. It had been nearly two full weeks before I even bothered them. Wednesday I called andasked simply for a status. This was like 9am, and they informed me the parts (not that the person I spoke to could tell me what parts) came in today. And informed me the … Continue reading

I Was Really There

Car back! Still without a decent computer, but at least I can cart my butt around again. Baby steps, people, baby steps… Without my laptop, I haven’t really looked at these in detail, but just skimming them gave me the sensation I was about to hop back on that bus in the morning. Getting ahead of myself… reminiscing – you do that in old age I hear… Anyway, Alison, a new friend from the Scotland backpacker tour, posted her photos from the trip. Check ‘em out, see that I was … Continue reading

Something of an Update

It was pointed out recently that it’s been awhile since I’ve posted much outside of my photos. There’s a plethora of reasons for that, but by and large boring. When I’ve had spare time lately, my life has been either taking pictures or editing them. I don’t know that I’ve ever had a hobby suck me in so completely. And as I did report on here,

Mark’s Rattlesnake Roundup

Today’s title brought to us by the letter R is just my nutso way of saying that there will be a cacophony of topics ahead. A little of everything and little of value to world peace. Does the World Need Superman? Friday night, I met up with some friends, Chris and Dan, to catch Superman Returns. I had hope to see it Wednesday night after work, but work would have no part of that idea. I worked late every day. So, Friday, I scooted home and then off to meet … Continue reading

Playing Catch-up

So, I haven’t posted anything new in awhile. But other than the usual internal chaos, nothing new to report anyway. Fighting some allergy or something. If it’s a cold, it’s very atypical as I don’t feel congested, feverish. I’m just sneezing and coughing A LOT. The cough is a dry wheeze and nothing is ever coming from it… I was home over the weekend and by Sunday everything had cleared. Within hours of being back, it resumed. But it’s worse at work than at the house. My allergy theory seems … Continue reading

This is the last week of my writing class. I’m definitely going to miss it. The structure of having to produce something for class will be gone. I want something that will keep that requirment to produce there. I’ve been hunting around rather aimlessly for a website that needs freebie authors to produce regular content. That would require productivity and it would give me some experience. I finished my last piece for class yesterday afternoon. It turned out to be sort of a hybrid between a travel piece and a … Continue reading

Wow, I don’t feel so well. Sore throat, slight cough. Woke up at like 4:30am and couldn’t get back to sleep… I felt like I had enough, but I knew it wasn’t true. I felt practically asleep all after noon – i.e. trouble focusing on anything. At least I went to work early (since I was up), so I was out earlier… Then ran by Staples to get a new shredder. Mine died Sunday. I’m on one of my clean the house sprees. I’ve put a few things on e-bay … Continue reading
